Our Aims And Objectives As A Christian Outreach Ministry
Our aims and objectives as an outreach ministry is to win the lost for Christ, inspire and encourage other Christians, and to engage in economic and community development in Africa, starting with Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone is a small West African Country of about 5million people. A former British colony, she became known as the "Athens of West Africa in the 60's."
Though blessed with mineral and natural resources, by 1980 the decline of the nation had become very aggressive. In 1991, she was plunged into total anarchy when elements of the civilian populace took up arms to rebel against the democratically elected government. That rebel war lasted for ten years, costing the nation thousands of lives either maimed or killed, a wanton destruction of privately-owned properties and a complete destruction of the nation's infrastructure.
"Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins"
Today, the guns have gone silent, the killing and destruction have stopped, and all fighting factions have returned to normal life...but the people of Sierra Leone continue to bleed economically.
With a new democratically elected government, there is new hope...but of what use is that hope if young girls and women have to be sexually abused just to put food on the table? Of what use is that hope, if the young men have to do drugs to survive and of what use is that hope, if the children grow up without experiencing the joy of childhood?
ViCLOM is committed to making a difference in the lives of people in accordance with the Great Commission.
First, to point the way to the Good News of Jesus Christ as commanded in Mark 16: 15-16.
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe, will be condemned." Mark 16: 15-16
Second, to strengthen and encourage others who are being challenged, even in their walk with Christ.
"But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end..."Heb.3:13-14
Thirdly, to engage in economic and community development in Africa, starting with Sierra Leone.
Prostitution is becoming a way of life for young girls and women. So with a sense of urgency and utmost importance, we plan to help combat this lifestyle, by providing alternatives for victims, by getting them involved in diverse vocational trainings.
"Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day...Teach a man to fish, you feed him for life"
Not only will there be a reduction in the trade, it would help minimize the spread of AIDS and other venereal diseases in Africa.
